Holidays in Daun & the Volcanic Eifel

The maars, forests and volcanic landscape are almost on the doorstep of eifel5star. Here you will find our personal selection for active days, family outings, quiet moments in nature and things to do when the weather is less favourable.

PERSONALLY SELECTED BY eifel5star

Daun is an ideal base

If you are visiting the Volcanic Eifel for the first time, make time for its maars. The quiet crater lakes, wide views and short distances around Daun make exploring easy – yet every place has its own character.

The Eifelsteig and Lieserpfad are close by for walkers, while cyclists can set off directly from Daun on well-known routes. Many destinations are only a few minutes away, so even a spontaneous half-day outing can become a real holiday experience.

We like the variety: nature in the morning, then a wildlife park, castle or museum in the afternoon. On rainy days, museums and the thermal baths offer worthwhile alternatives.

The following recommendations are deliberately not an endless list of links. They are destinations that suit a holiday in Daun and can be realistically planned from eifel5star.
